Fire Observation Tower
Located at the northern tip of Istanbul, the tower was built to monitor forest fires. It features a meteorologically linked exterior lighting automation system that changes color according to weather conditions. Equipped with the latest technological systems, the tower allows 24/7, 360-degree monitoring through thermal and standard cameras connected via the internet to the Fire Coordination Center.
Situated within the jurisdiction of the Bahçeköy Forest Enterprise Directorate and the Sarıyer Forest Sub-Directorate, the Sarıyer Fire Observation Tower replaced the old structure, which had reached the end of its service life. Construction of the new tower began in 2016, was completed by the end of 2017, and became operational in 2018. Located on the European side of the Bosphorus, the tower was built to monitor both the Anatolian and European side forests from the Black Sea entrance of the strait.
