TECHNICAL TOUR
Sarıyer Fire Observation Tower - General Directorate of Forestry

Located in the northern part of Istanbul, the Sarıyer Fire Observation Tower was built to monitor forest fires. The tower features a meteorology-integrated external facade lighting system that changes color based on weather conditions. Equipped with the latest technology, the tower enables 24/7, 360-degree surveillance through thermal and regular cameras, all connected to the Fire Coordination Center via an advanced internet-based monitoring system.

The Sarıyer Fire Observation Tower is under the responsibility of Bahçeköy Forest Management Directorate and Sarıyer Forest Sub-Directorate. The old tower, having reached the end of its lifespan, was demolished in 2016. Construction of the new tower began the same year and was completed by the end of 2017, officially opening in 2018.

Situated on the European side of the Bosphorus, the tower was built to monitor the forests on both the Anatolian and European sides, covering the Black Sea entrance.
